Romain Boyer is the Commercial Director of PRISMA, a Catalan company that manufactures pneumatic actuators for valves. Romain recently shared some reflections on the progress of the sector with FLUIDEX.

Your equipment is mainly intended for the Water and Oil&Gas sector. How is the energy transition affecting you? How are you preparing?

We are a multi-sector company, we sell to different sectors and applications. Gas, electricity, water…that are essential energy sources to be able to produce goods… The energy transition involves using more sustainable equipment adapted to renewable energy sources. PRISMA is already working on this adaptation.

What future do you see in your company in other applications such as Hydrogen, geothermal or carbon capture? Are you ready?

Hydrogen may fit in the future but I think we are not yet ready as is the case with electric cars… recharging is a headache… There is still a lot of infrastructure to be developed to be able to use these applications.

Are you adapting your facilities to the energy transition, self-consumption?

No, we have done a study of solar panels but the initial investment and the aid are not yet convincing enough to undertake a project of these dimensions.

How are you working on digital transformation?

We are taking steps, such as having optimized our website, but having such a technical product, we don’t dare to sell online yet…

Are you open to any innovation project in collaboration with other complementary companies?

Yes, as long as the proposal is interesting and the result is beneficial for all parties involved.

What is the problem, of all the problems we are encountering, that is the most complicated for you?

Shortage of raw materials, logistical problems, cost of energy…

What are you doing to counter the risks?

All of the above are problems but, as always, we have to find a solution while we are able… it is not easy to manage an order from A to Z but we have to try it in the most professional way we know, in any case.
